What are emulators?

Emulators are programs that can run on various operating systems (Android, iOS, Windows, among others) depending on which one you use and which aim to simulate the environment of another operating system within it.

For example: you can use an iOS emulator – which will bring the environment of this operating system – on an Android cell phone. In this way, you could use applications made for iOS within Android.

However, the most common use of emulators is to be able to play titles from different video games on cell phones and computers, as you can see below.

Video game Emulators

The principle is the same as above, that is, you can use, say, a PlayStation emulator for Android and thus play games from that console on your Android phone. Fortunately, there are emulators for many different video games, as you can see and download on our portal.

But, emulators only reproduce the operating system of a video game, not the games. That's where ROMs come in.

What are ROMs?

Now that you understand what an emulator is and how it works, it's time to understand where the games you want will come from: roms. They are nothing more than files that perfectly replicate the original game, as long as they are loaded inside the emulator.

The mechanics, in a didactic comparison, is as follows. Imagine that you have a file made in Word, for Windows. It doesn't open in other software, and even if you use another text editor, it has some incompatibility tweaks.

That is, you need a PlayStation emulator for Android if you want to play a PS title on your cell phone. Now, if you want to, let's say, play an xBox title on your PC, you'll need an xBox emulator for Windows.

With that understood, it's time to talk about how you get everything ready to have fun.

How to use emulators and roms?

Although you can download the roms first and leave them on your phone for when you want to play, the normal procedure is to start from the emulator. So, see the steps below to get started:

After these steps, your emulator icon will be available on your phone's main screen, just like any other application.
